An Assistant Manager-In-Training position is perfect for those looking to take the next step in their career development! Our Assistant Manager-In-Training must be an enthusiastic learner as we show and demonstrate the skills needed to be an effective leader. The Assistant Manager’s job is to get to know staff, mentor first-time job holders, and lead them all to success by following our roadmap that ensures top standards in customer service, cleanliness and safety! The position of Assistant Manager-In-Training is in place as a transitional role to develop all the skills necessary to take on full store management duties at a later date. It is typical practice to elevate an Assistant Manager-In-Training into this role as skills become mastered. An Assistant Manager-In-Training is a great multi-year growth position with several benchmarks for increased job flexibility, bonuses and pay. Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to:) Maintain positive attitude Follow mentor’s leadership duties Demonstrate developed skills enthusiastically with an eagerness to learn Strong attention to detail Ability to switch tasks quickly and effectively Greet customers with a smile Strong Communication via phone and email Ability to take direction with little follow up Ability to work independently Working under strict time deadlines Take a leadership role in all aspects of operations Answer questions quickly and accurately to our standards Ability to handle cash, count change, and reconcile drawers Take a positive, respectful approach to delegation Lead by example Redirect and Refocus employees routinely Communicate consistently with store manager Act as manager in the absence of store manager Roles Include: Administration (phone calls, emails, other forms of customer correspondence) Electronic Tools (POS, Checklists, Project managing, etc.) Coaching/Mentoring staff (training/orientation, coaching, leading by example) Cleaning/Opening/Closing Store Party Directing (check-ins, training, follow up, problem solving, etc.) Kitchen (full kitchen duties) Marketing Efforts (Social Media messaging, event execution, etc.) Retail (inventory, stocking, restocking, merchandising) Other various special projects Cleaning Requirements At Cowabunga’s, we expect Assistant Managers to lead by example. The same cleaning expectations we lay out for a party pro are also expected of an Assistant Manager when the need arises.
