Job Description:
Taunton State Hospital is seeking three candidates for the
Communications Department telecommunications system to contact and
dispatch emergency incidences in accordance with rules and
regulations of the Federal Communications Commission; functions as
receptionist; responds to all emergency incidents; and performs
miscellaneous office duties (i.e., typing, filing, and record
keeping).
Please Note: The following positions are available:
Position 1 (00039568): Split shift - Tuesday/Wednesday:
11:00am-7:30pm, Thursday/Friday: 2:30pm-11:00pm, Saturday:
7:00am-3:30pm - Days Off: Sunday/Monday
Position 2 (00297607): Overnight shift, 11:00pm -7:00am - Days Off:
Week 1: Tuesday/Saturday; Week 2 Sunday/Friday
Position 3 (00001346): Evening shift, 3:00pm - 11:00pm Days Off:
Thursday and Friday
Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and
not all inclusive):
* Operates a Cisco console for telecommunications system.
* Operates Emergency paging and/or beeper system. Contacts &
dispatches emergency personnel to incidences as needed according to
emergency procedure protocol in order to provide prompt &
appropriate response.
* Transmit messages from a radio communications base station in
accordance with the rules & regulations of the Federal
Communications Commission
* Monitors radio frequency(ies) to receive, evaluate & forward
information.
* Operates radio transmitting & receiving equipment comprising a
system of fixed stations and mobile units.
* Greets and directs visitors to individuals and/or program,
answers questions, and provides information and/or literature
pertaining to agency rules, regulations and/or operation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluent.

Taunton State Hospital (TSH) operated by the Department of Mental
Health (DMH) is a 45-bed inpatient facility that provides
continuing care inpatient services to adults with major mental
illnesses. The hospital is a leader in the successful integration

Special Requirements:
After appointment, appointees must obtain a valid Restricted
Radiotelephone Operator's permit issued by the Federal
Communications Commission.
