General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Capture Cost Mentor. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.Utilizing your knowledge and expertise in business financial analysis, the Strategy and Business Development Advanced Strategy Specialist will support the GDMS Cost Mentor in providing mentorship to GDMS Top Opportunity capture managers in all aspects of cost and pricing strategies, to include the support of developing winning cost proposals. You'll learn Price-to-Win (PTW) strategy development, how to facilitate development and review of proposal cost strategies, themes, and solutions. You will partner with the opportunity Cost Lead to integrate the win strategies and solution into a proposal structure for compliance and ease of evaluation, conduct independent review of customer documents and makes recommendations to capture managers and business area leaders on changes to win strategies. You will maintain an SBD cost/price proposal repository for relevant re-use while developing and maintaining metrics on our DTC/DTUPC process.What you'll experience:

  • Partnering with capture and proposal managers to integrate win strategies and innovative solutions into compliant, compelling, and easy to evaluate proposals
  • Working with experts in the areas of cost volume and basis of estimate (BOE) development
  • Working within the Strategy and Business Development (SBD) organization, with other functional areas (i.e. engineering, finance, contracts, human resources, facilities, etc.), to develop DTC/DTUPC processes, best practices, and winning proposalsWhat you bring to the table:
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in finance or business is required plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in finance, program/project management, and/or pricing including leadership roles; or a Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of demonstrated leadership in similar roles.
    • Broad experience in having developed successful cost strategies, cost volumes, and basis of estimates (BOEs)
    • Expertise in Excel
    • Broad market awareness, to include budgets, customer priorities, mission gaps and market dynamics
    • Knowledge of government contracting and acquisition practices
    • Experience implementing a business development process to include DTC/DTUPC implementation, cost and pricing development, and proposal development
    • Recognized ability to build relationships with internal counterpartsWhat sets you apart:

      • A clear understanding of the roles of the various functions within the defense contracting business and an in-depth understanding of U.S. Department of Defense acquisition process and Requests for Proposals (RFPs). Experience with Intelligence Community (IC) acquisition process, customers, or programs a plus. Experience with Other Transactions (OTs) a plus.
      • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
      • Ability to work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the company
      • Team player who thrives in collaborative environments and revels in team success
