As a Capital One Director of Innovation and Architecture, you'll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One for our PeopleTech organization.
What You'll Do:

• Lead a team of Solutions Architects and Software Engineers with deep experience in AWS, distributed microservices and full stack systems as well as help build out the PeopleTech Innovation team.
• Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, mentoring other members of the engineering community, and from time to time, be asked to code or evaluate code, and identify new technologies for the People Tech landscape.
• Collaborate with product managers, and deliver robust technical solutions that drive powerful experiences to move the needle for our internal business partners
• Utilize coding languages like JavaScript (Angular, React, Node), HTML/CSS, TypeScript, SQL and Java, Salesforce development with Apex, Native, Visualforce.Responsibilities

  • Team with world-class professionals to develop and test strategies
  • Strategic leadership: Develop tech strategies that will align to the strategy of our business partners
  • Leadership: Will manage and develop multiple Solution Architects, Software and Platform Engineers, and/or People Leaders. Coach and mentor associates with a goal of developing and retaining talent at Capital One.
  • Execution: Manage and sequence delivery of business intent, build business requirements and execute against the product strategy
  • Oversee multiple projects and programs concurrently
  • Partnership: Work closely with colleagues across Capital One including: IT, HR, Corporate Technologies, Enterprise Technologies, Cyber
    The ideal candidate will have the following:
    • Conceptual thinking skills complemented by a strong quantitative orientation, given that a large part of the business is based on rigorous analytic marketing & credit risk management
    • Strong business judgment, leadership and integrity: They should be a tenacious decision maker, able to bring a healthy, aggressive, yet responsible approach to business
    • Solid people leadership experience: Ability to build and leverage the capabilities of a high-performing team, as well as business partners across the enterprise

    • Successful track record of thriving in a fast paced, entrepreneurial and dynamic environment
      Basic Qualifications
      • 
        Bachelor's Degree
      • At least 7 years of experience in software development or software engineering
      • At least 5 years experience in people management
        Preferred Qualifications
        • 
          5+ years experience with AWS
        • 5 + years of experience in Software Architecture or Solutions architecture
        • 5+ years of experience in full stack development (Java, Javascript)
