Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related specialized area or the equivalent experience is required plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within a reasonable period of time. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

In our fast-evolving environment, you'll maintain organization's effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing information technologies. Working with staff and customers, you'll determine system requirements and ensure timely service delivery as well as analyze information and/or technology needs of the customer and initiate design, planning, implementation or operations processes necessary to fulfill those needs. We'll rely on you to seek out learning opportunities to expand knowledge of IT concepts, processes and procedures, and to improve customer service. You'll work with team members to establish measurements, monitor performance, establish processes and procedures.
Responsibilities for this position: General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an IT Manager supporting classified and other limited access information systems. This managment role will lead teams in Dedham, MA; Taunton, MA; and Florham Park, NJ. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services.

The successful candidate will lead a dedicated team of highly skilled IT systems administrators supporting cutting edge engineering and development. Delivering highly available information system resources is critical to the success of GDMS. The successful candidate will ensure these information systems are secure, available, and are aligned to meet the needs and expectations of our end-users and business stakeholders. This is a challenging and exciting role at the forefront of secure IT infrastructures delivering the platforms on which engineering will develop next generation solutions to GDMS customers.

You'll manage employees to establish measurements, monitor performance, and develop growth plans.

Duties and Tasks:

  • People Leader, responsible for all aspects of employee engagement, including directing, coaching, supporting, and providing frequent feedback to develop, challenge and grow a diverse team of technical staff
  • Under general direction, provides assessments, recommendations, and follows through on all aspects of employee management including talent acquisition, development planning, performance evaluation, salary planning and termination
  • Partners across Business Operations and our business partners, communicating value, listening to customers, and tuning/optimizing processes, solutions, and technology to meet business needs
  • Provide recommendations on updates to strategy, improvements in Service delivery, innovation, continuous improvement, and the evolution of people, process and technology
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies; Champion a culture of education, awareness and adoption of changing practices and technologies
  • Oversee the delivery of IT project medium size initiatives working closely with project management, business users, and various technology teams to ensure successful project outcomes and deliverables
  • Identify and may lead process improvement initiatives to improve quality, timeliness of the delivery of IT services, and provide optimum value as a business partner
  • Identify and implement key operational metrics and track performance against objectives and long-term strategies. Under general direction, Develop and implement plans to address deficiencies
  • Experience in developing relationships and formal and informal networks across geographic boundaries to influence, coordinate, communicate, and organize groups/teams
  • Responsible for resource management to optimize effectiveness, enhance service delivery, and support employee work/life balance
  • Execute on risk mitigation strategies to improve the overall IT security posture
  • Provide recommendations for the development of the annual department budget, and may participate in identifying cost savings or reduction opportunities
  • Moderate business travel required
    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Experience managing Information Technology services teams within an engineering or manufacturing environment
    • Demonstrated experience leading a geographically dispersed, technical organization responsible for mission critical IT systems
    • Strong organizational skills including leading initiatives and modest projects; a facility to handle multiple tasks and deliverables simultaneously; a track record of exercising independent judgment appropriately; and the ability to quickly understand and execute complex assignments when working on high profile outcomes with inherent risk
    • Knowledge of organizational change management principles including leading change; building a coalition; anticipating resistance to change; designing / implementing appropriate strategies; institutionalizing change
    • Understanding of IT industry methodologies (e.g., DevOps, Agile, Software Development Lifecycle, etc.)
    • Understanding of the GDMS business strategy and supporting culture
    • Knowledge of fundamental information security practices and procedures particularly those common to working in the defense sector
    • Experience working with uncertainty, resistance, barriers, issues, and challenges in an ever-changing business environment
    • Experience in budgeting, planning, problem solving and cost analysis
    • Lean-Agile mindset Demonstrates the understanding and familiarity with the Lean-Agile mindset NOTE: This position is 'on site' in either Dedham, MA or Taunton, MA


      Target salary range: USD $145,000.00/Yr. - USD $157,500.00/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. Company Overview
