Responsibilities:Interested in staying abreast of earthquake hazard and engineering design developments? Curious about how to protect our industrial and commercial clients against earthquake shake damage and fire-following earthquake events? FM Global is an industrial and commercial property insurance company who believes the majority of loss is preventable, and that includes the damage caused by earthquakes. -As one of the engineers working in the Chief Engineer's Group, you will work closely with our research scientists to marry the science of seismic activity with an understanding of business impact to our engineers, underwriters and clients. This is to develop practical solutions for identifying facility seismic risk and reducing equipment and content earthquake damage. And, you will be the expert who assists our engineering community in assessing the earthquake risk at complex client locations. -As a problem-solver, you will be responsible for FM Global technical data sheets focused on preventing damage to buildings and contents from earthquake activity. This includes developing and/or maintaining various earthquake- and structure-related data sheets, publications and training resources.While the focus of your responsibilities will relate to seismic / structural engineering, as a team-player, you may be called upon to develop expertise in other perils too. Qualifications:The minimum qualifications below are for a grade 16 role; there is potential for a higher grade for an individual with advanced qualifications and/or experience.

  • BS in civil or structural engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in structural engineering and/or seismic design principles
  • Strong analytical and decisive problem solver with logical application
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Strong oral, written and presentation communication
  • Exemplary consultative skills, including active listening
  • Effective execution, collaboration, and negotiation skills
  • Proven project management capabilities
