Job Description
The Vertex Co-op Program offers students the opportunity to learn about the pharmaceutical industry through hands-on experience. Job Summary
At Vertex, we are redefining the future of medicine with breakthrough cell and gene therapies. The VCGT Pharmacology Department leads this mission, focusing on target discovery through preclinical development to address serious unmet medical needs.
We seek a curious, driven, and collaborative intern to support in vivo and ex vivo pharmacology research using advanced models and tools in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities

• 
  
• Supporting in vivo study planning and logistics
  
• Assisting with preclinical dosing, sample collection, and study execution using rodent models
  
• Maintaining detailed records in electronic laboratory notebooks (ELNs)
  
• Contributing to method development and proof-of-concept studies for new drug candidates
  
• Collaborating with scientists and research teams to ensure smooth experiment execution
  
• Participating in team meetings, discussions, and training to develop technical and scientific skills
  
  Qualifications
  
  • 
    
  • B.S. or M.S. in Pharmacology, Biology, or related field
    
  • Experience with in vivo studies using rodent models
    
  • Experience in method development and optimization (desirable)
    
  • Strong analytical skills and data interpretation ability
    
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
    
  • Evidence of scientific contributions via publications or presentations
    
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. now and in the future; Vertex does not sponsor internships or entry-level roles in this area
    
  • Enrollment in an advanced degree program if graduating before July 2025

    July - December 2025, Full Time
    Pay Range
    $20.00 - $35.00 USD/hour
    Additional Information
    This role is with a third-party agency partner; compensation and benefits are provided by the agency. Actual pay depends on skills, experience, and other factors. Overtime may be applicable.
