Name : Non Union The Nurse Manager of West 3 and the Float Pool
provides clinical operations, service planning, business
performance, and performance improvement to the department. West 3
is a Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Department at Everett Hospital with
Cambridge Health Alliance, and is a 35 bed unit for patients with
general and complete medical and surgical needs, often serving
those with serious health issues. The unit includes 5 private
rooms, 2 respiratory isolation rooms and a hemodialysis tandem room
with 2 bays. Skilled and compassionate nursing staff take care of
approximately 25 patients each day including an expert Hospitalist
Team. The Float Pool provides care with an emphasis on culturally
sensitive, evidence based nursing practice. While regularly
scheduled, the members of the float pool are deployed on a shift by
shift basis to provide nursing care to patients in ICU, Med/Surg,
Radiology and the IV team. The Nurse Manager, West 3/Float Pool
will account for clinical operations within the unit, including:
-Direct supervision of all unit clinical and support staff,
including accountability for employee competencies, evaluations,
and annual reviews. -Provides leadership to staff to facilitate the
resolution of conflicts. -Development, implementation and revision
of unit clinical standards, policies, and procedures. -Collaborates
within the service line, and across service lines and departments
to ensure effective clinical operations. -Hiring: Collaborates with
other members of the leadership team to recruit and hire quality
candidates. -Develops and monitors performance improvement
measures, including but not limited to measures of clinical/service
outcomes, cost/volume measures and customer satisfaction. -Leading
change: demonstrates familiarity with the psychology of change and
is able to apply that body of knowledge to lead change within the
unit and the service line. -Communication: effectively communicates
and collaborates with diverse individuals, disciplines and
departments throughout the organization and the community we serve.
-Diversity: Understands how a diverse workforce affects the
delivery of health services and integrates the organizational
mission and vision with respect to diversity into all aspects of
work. -Team Leadership: Understands the power of accomplishing
organizational goals in teams. -Labor Relations: Demonstrates an
understanding of labor relations and union regulations. Works
collaboratively with union leadership with its members. -Staff
development and evaluation: Works effectively with and provides
feedback to staff to maximize development. Counsels staff and uses
progressive disciplinary actions when necessary. -Performs other
related duties as assigned or directed. Work Experience: Five
years’ clinical experience in Med/Surg Demonstrated leadership and
management abilities Education/Training: Graduate of NLN Accredited
School of Nursing Bachelor of Science in Nursing required Master’s
Degree preferred Licensure : Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse
License Certifications: Maintains current American Heart
